Where I apologise to my future son-in-law

This was a real interaction between Cenny my 9yo daughter and Zeke my 10yo son.

Cenny, in a firm and authoritative tone: Zeke, let the dog out.

Zeke: I don't have to. Why don't you let the dog out?

Cenny, in the same tone: Zeke, let the dog out.

Zeke: You are a butt. You let the dog out.

Cenny: Zeke, let the dog out.

Zeke, yelling: No. You stink. I don't have to.

Cenny: Zeke, let the dog out.

Zeke, walking to the door with the dog: You're lazy. You stink, etc., etc, etc.

Cenny sits down on the couch next to me and says: Zeke is so easy to get to do stuff. Just keep repeating yourself and ignore what he says.

To my future son-in-law - you never had a chance. Sorry

Ezekiel is full of S@#%

Our son Zeke has been sick for almost three days with a mild sore throat, unrelenting fever, and moderate to severe abdominal pain. We thought he had the standard stomach flu that people get and were treating him with over the counter drugs. The confusing thing was the stomach pain because it kept moving from right where the appendix is to up by his ribs on the opposite side. Yesterday we finally gave up and took him in to the ER where they did blood work and really didn't find anything definitive. They suggested we stop with the Tylenol and come back if and when it got worse (to see if we were masking symptoms). Several hours later we were back where in they did an X-ray of his abdomen and got back some results from earlier. Zeke had two things going on, hence the confusion. First he was positive for strep explaining the sore throat and fever, and, well see the X-ray for yourself.
Lisa turned to me and we mouthed at the same time - "Zeke is full of...". Well you get it. Most of the time it's just an expression, but not with Zeke - he really is and will be for about two days as it works its way out.

Blessing #1 - Zeke is capable of giving himself a suppository.

Yeah, I Don't Think So

Like all nine year olds, Zeke experiences itching in interesting places sometimes. Being a very inquisitive boy, and because I got him a wonderful little book last year, Oh Yuck! The Encyclopedia of Everything Nasty, he began researching his ailment.

Today at lunch he proudly announced he had made a successful diagnosis; and then showed us the entry on body lice also known as crabs. Yes, that crabs.

Try again grasshopper.

BTW - It is an awesome little book for any of your 8-12 year olds.

You just slowly fade away.

Zeke was perusing his new Ink-something book for Christmas when he shared this bit of wisdom.

I see the author is finally saying the characters are dead (as in they died). In the first two she always said they were DECREASED.

Not Just Any Nerd - Geography Nerds

Gunnar and Zeke are both major geography nerds (even though Gunnar tries to hide that from others). Today at dinner they were going through Canadian provinces AND THEIR CAPITALS) and Zeke shared the following:

Nova Showta
and
Squatch-chew-am
and
New Broonsick

Then he went on to Latin America and said

Pan-new-maw & Pan-new-maw City

He is teaching himself through reading, hence the creative pronunciations
