Darkness and Light, the third book in John Harvey's Frank Elder mystery series kept me entertained on my flight to Washington DC. A police procedural featuring the retired Nottingham detective being pulled back in as a consultant. Straight forward gritty crime investigation. If you are a fan of the LAw and Order sort of mystery, than this series might be to your taste. I would start at the beginning so you can understand all the references about his ex-wife and troubled daughter - not required to get the story, but it does help explain the character.
